1. Summary
practice cents is built for practice on your device. Core features—tuner, metronome, recording, journal, and HYKOM ear training—process audio and practice data primarily on your device. We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information we process
Microphone audio. Used for the tuner, Listen / recording, and pitch-related HYKOM drills while those features are active. Audio is processed on-device for pitch detection and recording. We do not stream live microphone audio to our servers for tuning.
Practice data on device. Recordings, journal entries (including optional photos, voice memos, place labels, and tags), settings (e.g. A4, palette, instrument key), and HYKOM progress may be stored locally on your phone or browser.
Optional location (journal). If you choose “Use current location” or a place name for a journal entry, we may use location services or geocoding to show a place label and map snippet. You can skip location entirely.
Optional iCloud Backup (iOS). If you turn on iCloud Backup in the iOS app, a copy of your practice data (settings, journal, recordings, HYKOM scores) is stored in your private iCloud container so you can restore on a new device signed into the same Apple ID. That data is processed by Apple’s iCloud service under your Apple ID; we do not operate a separate practice cents account for this. You can turn Backup off anytime in Settings.
Optional account & cloud (web). If you sign in on the website, we may store account identifiers and any cloud backups or shared recordings you explicitly enable, to provide those features across sessions or devices.
Purchases (iOS App Store). If you subscribe to practice cents Pro, billing is handled by Apple. We receive entitlement status through Apple’s systems so the app can unlock Pro features. We do not receive your full payment card number.
Diagnostics & site analytics. The website may use privacy-conscious analytics (e.g. page views) to understand aggregate usage. The iOS app may use Apple’s standard crash/diagnostic channels if you allow them in system settings.
3. How we use information

5. Retention & control
Local data remains until you delete it, clear app/browser data, or uninstall. Optional cloud data is kept while your account and backups exist, or until you delete them. You can export or delete local data using in-app tools where available, and manage App Store subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
6. Children
practice cents is a general music practice tool. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the service if you are under 13. Parents or guardians who believe we have collected information from a child should contact us.
