Free online chromatic tuner
Play a note. See how many cents you’re off. No download, no account. Built for band and orchestra — works for guitar, bass, and voice too.
- No account
- No install
- Mic on-device
Tip: on iPhone Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen for an icon on the home screen. This page still works after the first visit if the browser keeps it cached.
How to use this
Start tuning
Tap Start and allow the microphone. Play a sustained note (or hold the phone near the bell or sound hole).
Read the cents
The needle shows sharp (+) or flat (−). Zero is in tune. 100 cents is a semitone. Green means you’re close enough for ensemble work.
Reference A
Default is A440. Use + / − for ensemble pitch (A442) or historical A415 when the group needs it.
Why tune in the browser
Most tuner apps make you install first. This one doesn’t. Open the page, allow the mic, play. Teachers can send one link — no accounts, no store before the needle moves.
- Chromatic — any of the 12 notes, not only open strings
- Live cents so you can see sharp and flat
- Works for guitar when you need it
- Phone or laptop — nothing to download
Who it’s for
Middle and high school band and orchestra, private lessons, and a quick check at home. Guitar and voice work when the room is quiet enough. Teachers can send this URL without another install.
- Concert band and wind ensemble warm-ups
- Orchestra string and wind intonation
- Guitar, bass, and ukulele in a tab
- Voice and piano reference at A440

Common questions
Is this tuner really free?
Yes. Use it in Safari or Chrome — no account, no install. The iPhone app is free too. Pro is only for MM Mode, full HYKOM, and mixed-meter maps.
Do I need to download an app to tune?
No. This runs in the browser. On iPhone you can Share → Add to Home Screen for an icon, or get the iPhone app when you want record and a journal.
Does it work for band instruments and guitar?
Yes — anything the mic can hear. This page shows concert pitch. The iPhone app can show written pitch for Bb, Eb, and F instruments.
What are cents?
A cent is 1/100 of a semitone. The needle uses cents so you can see small pitch errors. There’s a short guide: What are cents?
Which browser works best on a phone?
Safari on iPhone, Chrome on most Android phones and laptops. Allow the mic, keep this tab open, and use a quieter room when you can.
